This course examines research regarding exposure to technology and the effects on the brain. Strategies to counter negative effects will be introduced.
June trainings include: Principles and Practices of Trauma Informed Yoga; Calm Down Kit-Make and Take; Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention; Impacts of Technology on the Developing Brain; Self Care and the Professional and How to Effectively Engage with Communities of Color. 5/23, 5/30 and 6/6: Caretakers of youth will learn positive strategies for addressing challenging behavior and make practical visual adaptations that can be used in the home: positive feedback and encouragement, build relationships to promote success, design home environments and schedules, teach social and emotional skills, support the development of friendships, teach replacement behaviors.
June 7, 14 and 21 6:00-8:30 pm
Embodied practices such as yoga can reduce long and short term effects of trauma exposure. In this course yoga will be introduced as a resource increasing resiliency and self care.
